Two of our specialties at PowerThru Consulting are working with the Salsa online organizing platform from Salsa Labs, and making beautifully formatted, user-friendly and mobile-responsive websites. So we leaped at the chance to design a new set of mobile-responsive Salsa web templates for Salsa Labs’ own sales team to use for their demo accounts when they want to show just how nice their own tool can look.
Here’s a series of before-and-after screenshots of what we were able to do with their standard forms (click on each image to see a larger version). You’ll also see three different styles for the overall layout of the page — a simple logo-only header style, a header with menu bar style and a sidebar style. The screenshots are the format you’ll see on a standard computer, but if you click on the links below either from a mobile device or click on the link and then scale your window down to less than 768 pixels wide on a standard screen you’ll see the mobile-responsiveness in action. Note that these are all using Salsa web templates — we do lots of work customizing Salsa email templates too! There are some additional difficulties there with making sure templates are compatible with all the major ISPs, but we can make your emails look beautiful too.
Donation Pages, simple logo template – view page
Signup pages, sidebar template – view page
Petition pages, header menu template – view page
Tell-a-Friend pages, header menu template – view page
Some behind-the-scenes details for those who care — we integrated the Bootstrap framework and used jQuery to add Bootstrap classes to Salsa elements to make it simple to make these forms mobile responsive, style the menu items and the like. They’ve been tested for the main types of Salsa forms — signup, petition, targeted action, event and tell-a-friend, as well as the profile manager and other pages.
Best of all is that now that we have well-tested and solid code, we can easily apply these styles to your own Salsa templates. If you like what you see and want to spiff up your own Salsa pages — and see a subsequent increase in engagement rate by your supporters — let us know! With a third or more of all web traffic coming in on mobile devices, you are leaving actions and money on the table if your Salsa templates are not optimized for mobile.
